SECTOR: LEISURE
This building is a modern, community-focused cultural landmark. Completed in 2022 as part of Lambeth Council’s Somerleyton Road regeneration, the development brings together two fully accessible theatres with efficient acoustics, seven versatile rehearsal rooms, including double-height aerial performance spaces and a public café-bar, all housed in a sleek, sustainably designed building. The building combines technical ambition with social purpose: the theatres feature flexible seating, advanced rigging systems, and full accessibility, while the roof integrates green infrastructure, rainwater management, and solar panels to significantly reduce energy demand.
Middlesex was appointed to deliver all firestopping works across the building to support safety, performance and long-term operation. This included providing and installing passive fire and acoustic stopping to all compartmentation lines, including walls, floors, risers, and service penetrations. Plus, fire sealing around all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and hydraulic services using approved, tested systems to achieve the required fire resistance and acoustic performance.
In keeping with Middlesex’s quality and safety focus, installations complied with all relevant standards, approved details, and manufacturer’s instructions.
Middlesex was also appointed to deliver the drylining works.
